When designing your new kitchen or bathroom one of the most important decisions you will need to make is what kind of countertop will you use. There are so many different choices and your decision will depend on what you want out of a countertop. At DesignLine Home Transformations, located in Richmond, VA, we offer a wide range of Kitchen and Bathroom countertops. Here are 4 of the most popular bathroom and kitchen countertops.
One of the most popular material is Quartz because it is a low maintenance, high durability product with many different color choices. This is a great alternative to natural stone. At DesignLine Home Transformations we have samples from Cambria and Silestone in our showroom.

Solid Wood Countertops
Another type of kitchen countertop we carry are custom made solid wood bar and countertops by Grothouse. These bar/countertops are handcrafted and beautifully made. We recently installed a butcher block countertop in a kitchen remodel. This top is a maple with end grain. All the tops are coated with Food Safe Original Butcher Block Oil. The really neat thing about these wood tops is that you can easily sand away knife marks and dents.

Although not as popular a choice – we have also installed Travertine which is a type of limestone. “The key difference between Travertine and other natural stones lies in the formation of the rock, the hardness of the stone and the appearance. Travertine is formed in hot springs and/or limestone caves. Travertine is not the same as Marble or Limestone which falls in the metamorphic rock category. Key characteristics of Travertine stone are the holes within the stone which are caused by carbon dioxide evasion.”

Cosentino Dekton Countertops
In this bathroom, we installed Silver Travertine not just on the countertops but around the tub, on the shower seat and shower curb: Cosentino has a new countertop line that is called Dekton. Dekton is a sophisticated mixture of raw materials which includes glass, the latest generation porcelain tiles and quartz surfaces.
Through an exclusive technological process called PST, Dekton emulates in a few hours what it takes nature thousands of years. PST is a process that sinters mineral particles so that they link up and change their internal structure.
Dekton advantages: High UV resistant, Abrasion resistant, Stain resistant,High resistance to fire and heat, Low water absorption, Super mechanical resistance, Color stability, Dimensional stability, Non-combustible, Resistance to freezing and thawing, Suitable for contact with water and High scratch resistant.
This is a beautiful material that has many applications – such as: kitchen, bathroom and outdoor countertops; indoor floors, bathroom and pool floor coverings, outdoor terrace floor coverings, indoor, bathroom and exterior walls, stairs and fireplace cladding.
